Summary: In 1842, brothers Daniel and Aaron Kribs cleared the dense cedar swamp by Eden Mills and constructed a dam and sawmill. In 1843 the brothers built a limestone grist mill, which was sold to Henry Hortop Sr. in 1850 and stayed in the family until 1917. The mill operated until 1980 when it was destroyed by fire.

Now transformed into a private residence, the property is beside the mill pond and is one of the locations for readings that take place during the Eden Mills Writers?Festival each September.
